Sean Croghan - Myths & Legends of East County (1917-1948)
Share
We celebrated the opening of Sean Croghan's art show Myths & Legends of East County (1917-1948) in style on June 12th. Sean played a rare live electric and acoustic set of his songs from his massive catalog of music. It was live, raw and electric on so many different levels. If you weren't here, you missed something pretty special. You still have until July 11th to come and see his artwork though.
Just a little info about Sean...
Sean Croghan is a Portland songwriter and artist. Having only lived in the Portland area for the entirety of his life, he is brined in all that means both good and bad, a reflection on and of place.
Part of the 80’s underground music scene he was part of late 80’s, early 90’s band crackerbash, a contender in that exciting time in and around the city. Touring nationally and in Europe before they split in early 94. He played in both bands and solo most notably touring with friend Elliott Smith and being in the Pynnacles and his current band Mistons.
In the early oughts he began a more concentrated and focused effort on visual arts, being influenced by the loss of his father and close friend Smith. There have been several solo and group shows that he has been involved with and organized ; favorites being Art Bodega and Futher Stories Of The Before Time which combined visual art and creating a space to create new narratives and neural pathways.
He continues to do work as a musician, illustrator, and painter although some people still just think of him as the pizza cook from escape from New York.
