Join us THIS FRIDAY NIGHT November 14th for this first in a series of shows celebrating Portland's rich history of concert posters. This exhibit is an introduction to the history of Portland concert posters (1960 to 2024) with works drawn from the archive of local poster collector and historian Jason Blumklotz. The exhibit will showcase the largely unexplored riches of posters created for Portland’s many vibrant music scenes, from the beatnik coffee houses in the early 1960s, to the ballrooms of the psychedelic era, 70s DIY punk venues, rock and soul, hip hop and everything between. Get ready to see some posters of the Sonics, Wipers, Elliott Smith, the Screamers and shows from the Satyricon, La Luna, Memorial Coliseum, X-Ray Cafe, Paramount, the Masonic Temple (portland art gallery now) and so many others. The Exhibit opens on Friday, November 14th with a gallery reception from 5-8pm. If you know the Portland music scene at all you do not want to miss this opening or this exhibit! You can read a review about the exhibit online in The Mercury HERE. |
