Released on his own zeitgeist wrangling label Italians Do It Better, Chromatics man Johnny Jewel dusts off his analog synthesisers for an extended meditation on a scorched earth — or rather, one evaporated. Vapor glistens with crystalline chimes and glorious washes, like an extended homage to Angelo Badalamenti via the sonics of Brian Eno. But the faded electrics and extended chords betray a deep sadness amid the beauty befitting a producer working amid the rubble of forgotten worlds.
